Serial numbers

Other XR headsets

Pico Neo 3, HP Reverb G2 Omnicept, Tilt Five, Xreal glasses, Samsung XR, and Valve Index.

Updated Jul 30, 2026 · Francisco

The one-and-two-unit headsets. Where a line below says check rather than naming an exact spot, we haven’t confirmed it on our own unit — photograph what you find and tell us, and we’ll make this page specific.

Pico Neo 3 Pro Eye

In the headset: Settings → About device — the serial appears under the system information.

On the hardware: a white label with a QR code sits inside the rear head strap; scanning the QR gives the serial.

On the box: the side or bottom label, near the barcode.

HP Reverb G2 Omnicept

Check the label under the face cushion (it lifts out) and on the cable’s control box. The box label carries the serial too.

On a Windows PC these enumerate through Windows Mixed Reality, and the Omnicept runtime reports the connected device — that’s the fastest identification if the headset is already wired to a workstation.

Tilt Five

No published guidance from the vendor. Check the inside of the temple arms on the glasses and the box label. Whatever you find, record it and let us know — with four sets in the lab it’s worth getting this documented properly.

The game board and the wand are separate items; note them in the asset record so a set comes back complete.

Xreal (Air 2 Ultra and Air)

Check the inside of the temple arm — the same place the model marking sits — and the box. The Nebula companion app’s About screen is the other place to look when the glasses are connected to a phone or computer.

Samsung Galaxy XR

The standalone Android XR headset. Settings → About on the headset, the same as any Android device — see Android phones and tablets for what that screen looks like. If it’s in developer mode, adb devices -l gives the serial directly (Reading it from the OS ). On the hardware, check under the face cushion.

Samsung Gear VR

The older phone-powered headset is a different animal: it has no computer of its own, so there’s nothing to read in software. The serial is on a label inside the headset, under the face cushion, and on the box.

Track the phone separately — it’s the part with the serial that matters, and it’s the part that gets borrowed. A Gear VR without its paired Galaxy phone is a plastic shell; note in the asset which phone it goes with.

Valve Index

The label is inside the visor on the left side, under the face gasket — pull the gasket off to read it.

Everything else

The pattern across nearly every headset ever made: under the face gasket or foam, inside the head-strap arms, or on the underside near the regulatory markings. Check those three, then the box. If ten minutes turns up nothing, photograph the device and ask rather than inventing a number.
