Serial numbers
Varjo
XR-3, XR-4, and XR-4 Focal Edition — the type label on the headband and the serial in Varjo Base.
Varjo headsets are tethered to a Windows workstation, so the software route only exists on the PC they’re plugged into.
On the hardware
The model name and serial number are on a type label on the back support of the headband — the padded piece that sits against the back of your head. This is the same place on the XR-3 and on the XR-4 series (including the Focal Edition units).
Controllers have their serial on the back of the device.
In software (Windows only)
With the headset connected and Varjo Base running:
- The headset model shows in the top-left corner of Varjo Base.
- Settings → Support, under Current version, lists the headset model and serial number.
Varjo Base is Windows-only — there’s no macOS, Linux, or FreeBSD path for these headsets. If the tethered workstation is down, use the headband label.
Model field
XR-3, XR-4, or XR-4 Focal Edition — the editions are genuinely different products, so keep them as separate models rather than one “XR-4” bucket. Our XR-4s are Focal Edition units; label them that way so a future loan request asks for the right thing.
Practical notes
- The headband label is easy to smudge — photograph it while you’re back there, and attach the photo to the asset.
- Record the link box / power supply with the headset if it has one. They’re not interchangeable across generations and they walk off on their own.
